Our "Behind the Scenes with Accountable" series continues with Melissa Gardner, a recruiter from our Northeast Zone. Join us as we delve into Melissa's story and her impact on our healthcare team.

Melissa Gardner has been with Accountable since November 2014, joining us through a company acquisition. Reflecting on her journey, she shares that staying with Accountable has been the best experience in her career. Melissa's role involves finding qualified healthcare professionals for temporary assignments, building strong partnerships, and guiding them through every aspect of their assignments.

Melissa's healthcare career began in the surgery and recovery unit at a local hospital, where she worked as a unit secretary and patient care advocate. Initially aspiring to become a nurse, Melissa discovered that nursing wasn't her true calling. However, her passion for the healthcare field remained strong. She chose to advocate for healthcare professionals, helping them find comfort and opportunity in their careers. Over the past nine years at Accountable Healthcare, Melissa has found great fulfillment in helping RNs, LPNs, and CNAs secure employment that benefits them, their families, and the patients they care for.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time by the pool during the summer, decorating her home, camping with her husband, and watching TV shows like Yellowstone, Chicago Fire and PD, and Fire Country. She treasures time with her husband, two adult children, and eight grandchildren. Interestingly, although she was born and raised in Louisville, KY, known for the Kentucky Derby, Melissa has never attended the Derby or visited Churchill Downs. It's on her bucket list!

Melissa also loves playing BINGO for local charities and has a knack for decorating and making flower arrangements and wreaths for her home. Her favorite part of her job includes speaking with people from diverse backgrounds, learning their unique perspectives, experiencing teamwork, and enjoying the flexibility of working from home, which provides a better work-life balance.
