Each April, Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW) gives us the opportunity to recognize the dedicated individuals who work behind the scenes in healthcare. This year, we celebrate from April 20–26, 2025, shining a light on the laboratorians whose work plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating patients across the country.
The Unsung Heroes of Healthcare
Laboratory professionals are responsible for conducting vital diagnostic tests that impact nearly every aspect of patient care. From identifying infections and monitoring chronic conditions to detecting diseases at their earliest stages, their work is foundational to effective treatment. Though their contributions often happen out of view, the results they produce are central to clinical decisions made every day.
This year’s theme, “Mystery Machine of Diagnostics,” highlights the investigative nature of laboratory work. Much like detectives, lab professionals use advanced technology, scientific expertise, and precise processes to uncover the information healthcare teams need to deliver the best possible care.
