When did you become a nurse and why?

I became a nurse in 2013 because I felt stagnant with work and felt that having a versatile career would help change that. Medicine is always growing and changing, so it felt like a natural choice.

What made you go into travel nursing?

The chance to go places that I had merely visited on vacation. Travel nursing was an opportunity to return to places I had enjoyed visiting and to get paid for basically an extended visit.

What has been your favorite location for travel nursing so far and why?

Massachusetts! I got to enjoy 'leaf peeper' season (that's what they call the people who come up for leaf changing), there has been a lot of things to do on days off either heading to the city or hiking in the country, short drive to multiple states, and the people are great.

What is your favorite thing about travel nursing (the experience, locations, training, etc.)?

The locations! So many options and depending on the area, always something new to do on off days.

What advice can you give others who are interested in travel nursing?

Explore as much as you can. Take full advantage of the location and your off days. We all enjoy a day at the house, but contracts fly by and you picked that location for a reason!

And don't hesitate to make friends. Many of the staff at the facility you are visiting are happy to have you and you can have an even better experience making local friends.
